Choosing a tank
What to Look for in a Ferric Chloride Tank
Weight
At 40% ferric chloride weighs roughly 1.4 times as much as water. Use a tank rated 1.5 SG or higher.
Metals
Ferric chloride corrodes most metals. Keep steel hardware, ladders and supports out of contact with the liquid.
Staining
The dark brown solution stains concrete and equipment. Containment makes cleanup much easier.

Ferric Chloride Tank Questions
What is the best tank for ferric chloride?
HDPE, polypropylene and PVDF are all rated A for ferric chloride in our compatibility database. HDPE is the most economical. Because 40% ferric chloride weighs about 1.4 times as much as water, choose a tank rated 1.5 SG or higher.
Can I use steel fittings with ferric chloride?
Ferric chloride corrodes most metals, so plastic fittings are the usual choice. Send us your concentration and we will specify the fittings and gaskets.
