What to Look for in a Phosphoric Acid Tank
Weight
Concentrated phosphoric acid weighs 1.57 to 1.69 times as much as water. The tanks on this page are rated 1.9 SG.
Freezing
The freezing point rises with strength: about 0°F at 75%, 41°F at 80% and 70°F at 85%. Stronger grades stored outdoors often need heat trace and insulation.
Thickness
85% acid is thick and pumps slowly in cold weather. Size outlets and lines with that in mind.

It depends on strength. 75% acid freezes around 0°F, but 80% freezes around 41°F and 85% around 70°F. Outdoor tanks of the stronger grades often need heat trace and insulation, which we can add.
Is HDPE compatible with phosphoric acid?
Yes. Our compatibility database rates HDPE and polypropylene A for phosphoric acid both below and above 40%. PVDF is rated B.
